Rugby League's "Summer Bash" in Blackpool, the Championship version of Super League's "Magic Weekend" is a brave innovation.
But is the RFL wise to bring it to Blackpool?
The Northern Rail Cup and the BARLA cup and league finals were tried in Blackpool but subsequently fled because of the ridiculous charges at the ground and the almost total lack of promotion of the events by Blackpool Council. Little was seen in the local paper, The Blackpool Gazette.
Law abiding fans and families of rugby league supporters are just the type of people that Blackpool need to attract back to the resort.
But it appears that rugby league is not "Glamorous" enough for much attention by Blackpool
